Florian Wirtzs Hat-Trick Seals Bundesliga Title for Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen clinched their maiden Bundesliga title with a resounding 5-0 win over Werder Bremen, ending Bayern Munich's 11-year dominance in the league.

Under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen's remarkable undefeated streak of 29 matches this season propelled them to their first trophy since 1993, establishing a formidable 16-point lead over Bayern with five games left. 
 

In addition to their Bundesliga triumph, Leverkusen's stellar season saw them reach the final of the German Cup and advance to the Europa League quarterfinals, where they hold a 2-0 first-leg advantage over West Ham United. 

Florian Wirtz's hat-trick in the title-clinching victory extended Leverkusen's unbeaten run across all competitions to an impressive 43 games this season. Reflecting on the historic achievement, Wirtz expressed disbelief, stating that he couldn't describe what had happened and that he would need a few moments in the changing room to understand their achievement. 

Coach Xabi Alonso, who took charge when Leverkusen languished in the relegation zone in October 2022, highlighted the significance of ending Bayern's dominance, remarking that it might be healthy for the Bundesliga and German football for another team to win.
